“Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts." - Arnold Bennett

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I've trained in no Shaolin Kung Fu class (class canceled) and no Qi Gong/Yang Tai Chi classes this last week. I've made no progress with the Yang Staff Form and made mild progress with the Shaolin sword form.

March's GoRuck 'Accept' Challenges are completed. All I had left was the rucking and additional challenge, which is to, "Ruck 1 Mile Per Day Every Day. Bring a friend, family member or pet for at least 1 of those miles each week. You pick the load". I finished the month at Kinkfest carrying a go-bag and a portable AED instead of a ruck, way more than a mile, for the last several days of the month.

April's GoRuck 'Nurture' Challenges have dropped. The workout is 7 rounds of a 400m run and 29 Sandbag Back Squats (60 lb. sandbag), in honor of 1st Lt Travis Manion, USMC. The Rucking and Additional Challenge for this month is to, "Shoot to Ruck 20 or more miles, dealer's choice. Work on building up to your chosen distance & schedule a day that works for you towards the end of the month and ruck 20+ miles." The F*CK is the 60x60 (June 2023 Retest), which is a Max Sandbag Burpees in 60 seconds with 60#lb sandbag. The book of the month is Never Enough: When Achievement Culture Becomes Toxic-and What We Can Do About It by Jennifer Breheny Wallace.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I've made no progress with the books in this entry, including The Inside Track: An Inspirational Guide To Conquering Adversity by Peter Sage, The Disaster-Ready Home: A Step-by-Step Emergency Preparedness Manual for Sheltering in Place by Creek Stewart, and Hidden in Plain Sight: Esoteric Power Training Within Japanese Martial Traditions: Tracing the Roots of Ueshiba Morihei's Power, by Ellis Amdur(editor).

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: No progress.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: The septic tank is in the ground and most of the trenching has been accomplished. The graveling of the driveway is also ongoing.

Adventure/Doing Stuff: I was the First Aid/Medical Lead for Kinkfest this year, and I've put more than 500 hours into making it happen. Our team was the most professional, trauma-informed, effective, and responsive that it has ever been, and very grateful thanks to my Assistant Leads and the volunteers have already gone out. We'll see if they want me to come back. *grin*
