I completed the Spartan Race – but I managed to dislocate my shoulder attempting to climb a 10-foot wall. I heard the ‘pop’, felt the pain. Got it back in the socket, and finished what of the course I could, getting help from others when I needed it. Before the wall, I was doing well, completing everything. After, I ran hills, dove in muddy water, climbed mud-slick hills one-handed … and finished. Many of the obstacles just weren’t possible, but I finished.
What do I take away from this? I need a better exercise regimen. More strength, more flexibility, more technique. One I heal, I’ll get started.
