101/1001 Update
Oct. 27th, 2020 11:16 pmSo often in life, things that you regard as an impediment turn out to be great, good fortune. - Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: No real changes. I had to cancel a virtual race.
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: No real changes. I'm taking a stack of books to Ol' Number 3 this week to read over the winter. I'm still working on Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed, Shunryu Suzuki's Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind, and Being Wrong: Adventures in the Margin of Error by Kathryn Schulz. I'm still training mindfulness with my eating patterns. I will be staying at Base Station for a while to spend time with The Old Man, and the family has a plan for managing the funeral and cremation, and coping with the medical issues within the family.
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: The daily driver is going back to the shop for a recheck of the water pump this week. The Whorse, my Ranger Intercept Jeep, has the rear differential back from the shop, and we're still waiting for the transmission. Also this week, I will take my BLS/CPR for Healthcare Providers class.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I worked a 24-hour shift at the fire station, hanging hose and doing a complete inventory of Engine 486. A peaceful shift, with some good Cardiac Emergency training in the afternoon, but no certification tasks accomplished.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: Still no progress on the internet connection, but a technician is supposed to come out this week - thank you, Faye! The Gate House has gotten the floor trenches covered back up and is ready for drywall and interior painting. The antenna base was also poured today. No progress on painting the Gate House. We solved a water intake problem in the RV trailer, and all of the other problems and conflicts have resolved.
Base Station received a dump truck load of river rock last week for the driveway, the septic field, and assorted projects; this week I'll get more river rock and some sand for the septic system. The septic field now has two of the three trenches dug and leveled, and we're ready to add river rock to them so we can place the leach lines and backfill. I will be hand-digging an RV Dump line to the septic system over the winter. The 3000-gallon water tank is off the trailer and ready for the Pump House, once the concrete pad, also poured today, has cured. I've had to give up on a Fall garden for this year.
Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
