My motto was always to keep swinging. Whether I was in a slump or feeling badly or having trouble off the field, the only thing to do was keep swinging. - Hank Aaron

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I'd gotten away from pushups with a mild recent rotator cuff injury, but last week I had restarted three sets each of 25 pushups and air squats, to rehab myself and build my strength back, and that paid off this week. We got through the July GoRuck 'Join or Die' WOD, which was 4 Rounds of a 250m Ruck (35 lb. ruck) and 17 Sandbag Squats (60 lb. sandbag), another 250m Ruck, and then 76 reps of [alternate movement] Sandbag Pull-Throughs, 4-count Flutter Kicks with Ruck, Overhead Ruck High Pulls, or Ruck Push-Ups for each round. For each of the alternate exercises, I wore my plate carrier with 20 lbs. of plates and substituted the plate carrier for the ruck with the pushups. I'm still a third of the way through the assigned monthly Goruck book, The Last Hero: A Life of Henry Aaron by Howard Bryant. I have hiked several days to work and back (about four miles) with my EDC bag, but I have not rucked the final 5-mile ruck of the month or made much progress with the additional tasking.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I finally finished rereading The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom by Don Miguel Ruiz, and restarted Creating True Peace: Ending Violence in Yourself, Your Family, Your Community, and the World by Thich Nhat Hanh. I'm continuing my daily meditation for the month of July. I hope to sit formal zazen again this month as a makeup.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: The daily driver is still in the shop.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I've completed the next two StreetMedicine online classes - ALS Neurological Emergencies and ALS Thoracic Trauma. Again, field surgery and higher-level prehospital care are above my scope of practice, but I can be more helpful in the moment with more knowledge. I'm also strongly considering yet another online college class through Coursera, part of the EMT specialization series from the University of Colorado, called Medical Emergencies: CPR, Toxicology, and Wilderness. This would be a good introduction to my Wilderness EMT goal, and probably the most useful course to take, based on what's happening in the Pacific Northwest right now. I restocked and repacked one of my disaster preparation bags.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: I've ordered more gravel for the driveway and more river rock for the septic system, and I hope to finish the RV dump line by the end of the month. The Old Man and I are now members of two of the local HAM radio groups. My sister-in-law, nephew, and niece are coming to visit next week. More stuff has been organized and put away where it belongs.

Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
