Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: Although we still owe September's GoRuck workout and all of the GoRuck October tasks except for the book, we are focusing on the November Challenge first. November's GoRuck 'Persevere' Challenge workout is the Chad 1000X, a thousand Weighted Step-ups (for Veteran Suicide Prevention), 22 miles of rucking (however we want them), with the additional tasking of "ask a Veteran what the best part of their service was," and read the book of the month, A Grief Observed by CS Lewis. We've already completed the workout (30-lb. ruck, 20 sets of 50, 20-inch step-ups), and I've also completed the additional tasking, rucked 6 of the 22 miles, and started the book. I have participated in no Tai Chi/Qigong classes this week; I'm on "vacation."
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm still working through The Art of War by Sun Tzu from my permanent library, and Dropping the Struggle: Seven Ways to Love the Life You Have by Roger Housden, but I've finished Inflamed by Shelly Malone. I'm behind, but I'm still engaging in another month of daily meditation.
New word: Inchoate means "imperfectly formed or formulated."
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I will get my yearly physical this week.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I will take one more Critical Care Transport class this week - Burn Assessment and Treatment.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: No progress. We're dealing with some permit issues, and the bureaucracy runs very slowly, ineffectively, and expensively. I'm planning on a leaf-raking, gravel-spreading day this next week.
Adventure/Doing Stuff: I have decided to add the Seattle Gum Wall to the list of roadside attractions from our recent Seattle trip and the Peculiarium in Portland that we visited once we were back. A fantastic way to spend an hour - I'm surprised I've never been there before. *smile* We also took The Old Man to Long Beach for a day, geocaching and finding roadside attractions and the only covered bridge remaining in use in Washington.
