Some people regard discipline as a chore. For me, it is a kind of order that sets me free to fly. - Julie Andrews

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: We completed September's GoRuck workout - a 2001 meter Ruck, and then 9 rounds of 11 Step Ups with Ruck, 11 Thrusters With Ruck, 11 Rows With Sandbag, 11 Power Cleans With Sandbag, 11 Push-Ups, 11 Ruck Swings, 11 Ruck V-Ups, 11 Deadlifts, and 11 Push Jerks, and then another 2001 meter Ruck. Despite shoulder/bicep injuries, we gutted through this brutal workout, modified where we had to, and got it done. September's patch has been earned, and now we will recover for a few days until December's GoRuck Challenge drops, and then we'll incorporate October's workout/rucking into that schedule. I have participated in three Tai Chi/Qigong classes since my last entry, and another is planned for Thursday.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm still reading The Art of War by Sun Tzu from my permanent library, and Dropping the Struggle: Seven Ways to Love the Life You Have by Roger Housden, but I've finished Notes from an Apocalypse: A Personal Journey to the End of the World and Back by Mark O'Connell. I'm still engaging in, and catching up, another month of daily meditation. Haiku.

New words: Murraya is “a genus of tropical Asiatic and Australian trees (family Rutaceae) having pinnate leaves and flowers with imbricated petals.” I found this word after Zaila Avant-garde spelled it correctly to win the Scripps National Spelling Bee. I then had to look up pinnate (of a compound leaf), which means having leaflets arranged on either side of the stem, typically in pairs opposite each other, and imbricated, which means overlapping or cause to overlap.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I scheduled my 6-month follow-up physical. I still have a diagnostic colonoscopy (being a gentleman of a certain age) and a dental cleaning/check-up to schedule for December. I have a 3-hour Harm Reduction/Ethics CEU class this week.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: We've signed up for another GoRuck Tactical course, Self Responder - a trauma-centric first aid course, eligible for an ASHI Advanced Bleeding Control Certification. It'll be a good refresher for me, and a skill class for Faye.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: We had a small but enjoyable Thanksgiving Feast at Base Station, with Cornish Game Hens, dressing, and lots of vegetables, and with Pecan Pie for dessert. We're continuing some small progress with permits, with the septic system permit application completed. The WorkWhorse still has a flat tire. Ranger Hazelnut found a medical stretcher system in a steel storage box designed for logging operations (never used) in great condition, with an industrial First Aid Kit and two emergency blankets included - and now it'll be added to Ol' Number 3's inventory. We tested the repaired Base Station's HAM radio, but I ended up making no contacts.

Adventure/Doing Stuff: Faye and I saw the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, for their 25th Anniversary show. We were in a proof-of-vaccination venue, masked, and well away from other people, at extreme stage left. Great seats - we saw everything! *smile*
