101/1001 Update
Jan. 24th, 2022 08:56 amThey always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself. — Andy Warhol
Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: The January 'Risk' GoRuck Challenge's book is 'read' (listened to), and the daily rucks for the rest of the month are continuing at my new ruck weight. I'm maintaining 100 daily pushups, in three sets. I've attended three more Qigong/Tai Chi classes. The 2021 Tribe completion swag showed up and got slapped on my ruck. *smile*
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm finishing The Art of War by Sun Tzu from my permanent library. I am still engaging in another month of daily meditation. I'm rereading The Te of Piglet by Benjamin Hoff. I attended another virtual zazen metta.
New words: Algolagnia is a sexual tendency that is defined by deriving sexual pleasure and stimulation from physical pain, often involving an erogenous zone. Studies conducted indicate differences in how the brains of those with algolagnia interpret nerve input. A stola is a long, draped robe worn by women of ancient Rome. I guessed wrong on the meanings of both of these.
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I had a dental cleaning this week; my X-rays looked "boring", although I have a potential cavity in a tooth groove too narrow for a toothbrush that will be looked at next time.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I will be signing up for some of the classes of the Community Health Paramedicine course, "40+ hour live interactive and online course [that] will help prepare you to function in mobile integrated health services", when it becomes available. I've ordered the Trauma IFAK training supplies for our GoRuck Self Responder tactical class in early March, and they've arrived at Base Station.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: We are still awaiting results from the septic system site inspection.
Adventure/Doing Stuff: We took an overnight socially distanced car-camping trip to Gold Beach and Arch Rock and cleaned up all of the remaining DeLorme squares in this half of the state. We still have east of Klamath Falls, a big chunk in SE Oregon, and next to the Idaho border left to find a geocache - nine more squares! We mainly found oldies before 2003, did our daily mile ruck at Arch Rock State Park, got our picture taken for an old and rare webcam cache, and performed a couple of geocache rescue missions in Oakridge and Vida to get those squares.
