101/1001 Update
Jan. 31st, 2022 11:47 pm“The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places.” - Ernest Hemingway, A Farewell to Arms, 1929
Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: The January 'Risk' GoRuck Challenge's daily rucks for the rest of the month are completed at my new ruck weight, completing the month, and the patch is waiting for me at Base Station. The 30-lb. plate had previously arrived at Base Station and was installed in my ruck - better than the 20-lb. and the 10-lb ruck plate I have. I'm maintaining 100 daily pushups, in three sets. I've attended four more Qigong/Tai Chi classes; three last week, and one today. I took my bicycle for a 1-mile test run after adjusting the seat to the right height, but the rear wheel rubs on the frame - back to the mechanic for truing.
The February 'Strength' GoRuck Challenge dropped early and honors USAF SSgt Timothy P. Davis "DT" who was killed on February 20, 2009, supporting operations in OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom) when his vehicle was struck by an IED. The DT Hero WOD is 5 Rounds of 12 Deadlifts, 9 Hang Power Cleans, and 6 Push Jerks, all while wearing the ruck and using the heaviest practical Sandbag - "You pick the weight and if you want a single or a double serving of shared pain." The rucking requirement: "1 Miler, 2 Miler, 3 Miler, 4 Miler, 5 Miler - at baseline weight for you, or 45/30 (heavy). At least 2 full days rest between each one. See how you do." The book to be read this month is A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. There is no additional tasking this month.
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm still finishing The Art of War by Sun Tzu from my permanent library. I am still engaging in a month of daily meditation, and I'll also do so for February, as well. I've finished The Te of Piglet by Benjamin Hoff, and I've started reading The Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman. I attended my second formal virtual zazen metta of the month, a loving-kindness meditation for a friend with a recent loss of her dog. Haiku below.
New words: Bombogenesis is a rapid intensification of a storm caused by a sudden and significant drop in atmospheric pressure, rapidly losing 24 millibars of pressure in 24 hours.
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I have a Dermatology appointment this week, and also an Addictions CEU training.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I also picked up the IFAKs from Base Station, and we've packed them for our GoRuck Self Responder class. We still need a couple of small things, but we're mostly ready for the class next month.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: We are still awaiting results from the septic system site inspection. The grey and black water tanks in the RV were emptied. Plans for brush-clearing, shoveling out minor cave-ins of the Pole Barn site and putting that dirt in the 'living room', and building a dog area/fence are in progress.
Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.

Hard wintertime
So much death, loss
ready for spring
too tense, too big
make movements smaller
breathe, in and out
Tai Chi, and Zazen
body, mind; preparing
oh - and rucking!
