101/1001 Update
Jul. 17th, 2022 11:23 pmThere must be a beginning of any great matter, but the continuing unto the end until it be thoroughly finished yields the true glory. – Sir Francis Drake
Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: My hamstring injury is almost fully recovered. I'm back up to 30 pushups daily and 3 sets of 30 grippers every work day. I was able to train in three Yang Style Tai Chi/Qigong classes again this week. I have started learning the Yang staff form. I note that Faye and I are now not the only ones wearing masks while training.
We finished the second of the 4-mile Rucks (45-lb. ruck) for the GoRuck June 'Dare' rucking requirement. We still have March's bonus WOD, some of May's GoRuck 'Reverence' Challenge tasks, and all of June's 'Dare' Challenge, except for the rucking requirement. We haven't even started July's GoRuck 'Revolt' Challenge tasks. The May requirements left are the Murph WOD, which is a 1-Mile Ruck, 100 Bent-over Sandbag Rows, 200 Push-Ups, 300 Squats, and another 1-Mile Ruck, and the second 5-mile Ruck, including "ruck[ing] 2+ miles in the vicinity of a local cemetery. No noise, only respect", including the additional tasking of visiting a grave and make an offering. We also have the Bubble Run this weekend.
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm still reading The Chinese Martial Code: The Art of War by Sun Tzu, The Precepts of War by Sima Rangju, and Wu Zi on the Art of War by A. L. Sadler. I'm still working on getting an average of six or more hours of sleep.
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: The Whorse is being rehabilitated/repaired/resupplied for duty at Burning Man this year. Her wiring, her wiper motor, and her battery are being replaced, as well as her tires, and she's going to get a thorough shakedown when I get her back. I completed another online 1.5-CEU class on Fentanyl, Sedatives and Xylazine - Oh My! New Drugs of Abuse in the Pacific Northwest. I'm required to complete 40 CEUs every two years, all of which may be completed by distance learning. I'm required to have a minimum of 6 CEUs in ethics, 4 CEUs in cultural competency every two years, 2 CEUs of Suicide Prevention, and 20 CEUs of alcohol and drug-specific education/topics.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress.
Base Station/Ol' Number3: Yet more wood hardener has arrived and been applied for the Fu Dogs, and more wood hardener has been ordered. I emptied the RV's black and grey tanks, and Faye and I cut back a lot of the weeds and brush overgrowing the driveway and the front gate.
Adventure/Doing Stuff: We went to another outdoor concert, to see and hear Styx and REO Speedwagon, with Loverboy opening for them. Loverboy was a great concert in itself, and Styx always rocks hard, but REO Speedwagon was a bit flat and low-energy. We were masked when we were near people, but we were mostly more than 20 feet away from everyone in the outdoor venue.
