“Fasting is the first principle of medicine; fast and see the strength of the spirit reveal itself.” ― Rumi

Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I'm really struggling with my routine of 30 pushups, 30 air squats, 30 crunches, and 3 sets of 35 grippers every workday. I have trained in three Yang Style Tai Chi/Qigong classes this last week, and I will be starting the Yang Staff form again in the next training cycle.

We've completed the June 'Dare' GoRuck Film of the month, The Best Years of Our Lives, and we're halfway through The Wright Brothers by David McCullough, the July 'Revolt' book of the month. We have continued August's 'Peace' rucking requirement of "31 total miles, broken down anyway throughout the month", and we're now up to 19.5 miles. We may not be able to complete this rucking goal within the month, as we lost 11 days while my Student was visiting, and we'll lose more due to my fasting. We still have March's bonus WOD, all of July's Challenge, except for the rucking requirement, and all of August, September, and October's Challenge tasks.

We have only to complete the "Stirling" Hero WOD, which is 8 rounds of Max Reps Ruck Unbroken Push-Ups (30-lb.) and 74 Ruck Lunges (30-lb.), with the condition of, "If you don’t hit more than 5 push-ups then go slick (no weight)", to complete the June challenge and slap the patch on our rucks.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: No progress. I have started my yearly fasting this week. This lets me clear out my digestive system and trains my body to keep going without food. Or coffee.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: The Whorse is still 10-7. The mechanic is still trying to find another subcontractor to rebuild the transmission or get another more reliable transmission to install. I've scheduled my yearly physical.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: No progress.

Adventure/Doing Stuff: We went on a car-camping geocaching road trip for Faye's birthday weekend. First, we went to Bend to log the final for the Counting Counties in Oregon Challenge, then we visited the Umpqua Head Lighthouse Museum (touring a functioning lighthouse was an awesome experience), and then to the Southern Oregon Coast to log the final for the Oregon Delorme Challenge. Then we went rucking on the beach, found a bunch of oldie virtual geocaches, and then to the Redwood National Park to find some more geocaches and get our Junior Ranger badges. A great weekend!
