A mission unbelieved is always considered nonsense. But a mission believed is history in the making. — Jim Wallis

Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I'm still getting back into my workday routine of three sets of 30 pushups, three sets of grippers, 30 air squats, and 30 crunches; I made no progress this week. I have trained in three Yang Style Tai Chi/Qigong classes this week, counting last Friday, and this Monday and Tuesday. I'm still working on a weightlifting plan for the equipment in the dojo. We signed up again for the Foam Glow Race in May. For the GoRuck 'Life Has Risk' Challenges, we only have March's bonus WOD and December's WOD left to complete; we are finally 'caught up' after completing almost five months' worth of training and challenge tasks in a single month. All of this year's rucking requirements, additional tasking assignments, and books of the month have been completed. A replacement patch for November's Goruck 'Freedom' tasks is being mailed to us, and Faye has already received hers.

For the September 'War' Goruck Challenge, we've finished the last rucking requirement of the year, 110 flights of stairs or 2,071 steps, honoring the first responders who died at Ground Zero that day trying to climb the 110 flights of stairs. We rucked up and down the steps of Laurelhurst Park (87 steps) ten times in the first chunk, and twelve times in the second chunk, completing 2,088 total steps. We have also completed the 9/11 WOD, which was a 2001 Meter Ruck (1.25 Miles) buy-in of a Ruck + Sandbag Carry, and then 9 Rounds of 11 Step Ups with Ruck (sub lunges if no box available), 11 Sandbag Thrusters, 11 Sandbag Rows, 11 Sandbag Over the Shoulder Throws, and 11 Sandbag Single Leg Deadlifts. We completed this during the snow day, hitting five Free Libraries and dropping off random Christmas gifts in two of them for the ruck. Due to the slippery weather conditions, we decided against a sandbag carry and I wore my plate carrier instead. As we've already finished the additional tasking and the book of the month, we slapped the patch in the appropriate place.

For December's Goruck 'Fight' Challenge, we only have the WOD to complete by the end of the month. It's a 2-day WOD, with Day 1 being a 1-Mile Run/Shuffle, 50 Burpees, 50 Sit-Ups, 50 Push-Ups, 50 Air Squats, 50 4-Count Mountain Climbers, 50 4-Count Jumping Jacks, and 50 4-Count Flutter Kicks (all with a baseline weight ruck except for the burpees). Day 2 is 10 Man Makers, 50 Plank Ruck Pull-Through, 400m Ruck, 10 Man Makers, 50 Ruck Press/Leg Lifts, 400m Ruck, 10 Man Makers, 50 Ruck Twists (2-Count), and a final 400m Ruck (with baseline weights with both the ruck and sandbag). As has already been stated, we've already finished the rucking requirement, the additional tasking, and the book of the month.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I finished reading Mind Over Water: Lessons on Life from the Art of Rowing by Craig Lambert. I'm still reading How to Be Compassionate: a Handbook for Creating Inner Peace and a Happier World by The Dalai Lama XIV and Jeffrey Hopkins, The Not So Big Life: Making Room for What Really Matters by Sarah Susanka, Hope Dies Last: Keeping the Faith in Difficult Times by Studs Terkel, and The Fate of Food: What We'll Eat in a Bigger, Hotter, Smarter World by Amanda Little.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: No progress.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress. I reviewed our cooking, sleeping, medical, and transportation inventory and plans in preparation for the imminent ice/snow storm and the cold temperature, but we have not lost power or heat.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: No progress. We'll be out at Base Station for Christmas Eve with the Old Man, and I hope to organize some of the Pump House and make some space for a new tool cabinet I got for my birthday.

Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress. We rode The Holiday Express, "... be[ing] transported along the Willamette River in the heart of the city in vintage rail cars all pulled by the historic Polson #2 1912 steam locomotive", a fundraiser for the Oregon Rail Heritage Center. Yes, there was a Santa Claus. *grin*
