“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.” – Nido Qubien

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I didn't train in any Qi Gong/Yang Tai Chi classes or Shaolin Kung-Fu classes this last week; they have all been prudently closed due to the weather. I again practiced less with the Yang Staff Form, and I've made no progress. I have also started learning a Shaolin sword form, but little progress with that, also.

January's GoRuck 'Create' challenges are ongoing. The rucking/additional challenge requirements are to ruck outside for 45 minutes daily and the workout is 75 pushups daily. I'm 223 pages into the book of the month, The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin. I've been increasing the pushups I can do at one time, from 25 to 30 to 40, and looking to get all 75 at one time by the end of the month for the F*CK. I'd managed to keep up with the current completion of the daily requirements as of Day 17, but I got behind two and a half daily rucks (due to the sheet ice). I steadily caught back up as the weather and the thaw improved, and I'm back to current at the end of Day 21. I've stayed current on pushups, despite a couple of falls and landing on my left arm/wrist.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm still reading Hope Dies Last: Keeping the Faith in Difficult Times by Studs Terkel, and Your Brain on Food: How Chemicals Control Your Thoughts and Feelings by Gary L. Wenk. I've also started the Alex Fletcher series by Steven Konkoly, The Method of Zen by Eugen Herrigel, and Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind: Informal Talks on Zen Meditation and Practice by Shunryu Suzuki. Once again, I 'sat' a Loving-kindness Metta virtually.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: No progress. The Daily Driver has a serious leak in the power steering pump that will need replacing very soon, but the mechanic was iced in. Rescheduled for next week.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress. The weather brought wind, rain, and snow storms this week, and then ice storms - and preparations were made for them all. We didn't lose heat and power, fortunately. The EMT training in Eugene on Tuesday and Wednesday was canceled and will be rescheduled.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: We've got a couple of inches of snow on the ground, delaying work — but also no report of a loss of heat or power. We've got 10 yards of gravel coming soon. Septic trenching should also be happening soon.

Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
