“Wisdom is the reward you get for a lifetime of listening when you'd have preferred to talk.” - Doug Larson
Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I've attended one Shaolin Kung Fu class (one class canceled) and no Qi Gong/Yang Tai Chi classes these last two weeks. I've made no progress with the Yang Staff Form. I've mostly recovered from COVID again, I've finished the antivirals, and I am back to seeing clients per the latest CDC protocol. COVID during a heat wave wasn't much fun.
July's GoRuck 'Imagine' challenges have been restarted. The workout is a 4 Mile Ruck and after each mile, you are to complete 13 Ruck Push-ups and 50 Ruck Squats (30-lb. Ruck). The book of the month is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. The rucking and additional tasking requirements this month we are to ruck Ladder Style (1 of Each): 5 Miles, 4 Miles, 3 Miles, 2 Miles, 1 Mile, done with “event standard” weight for time 30lbs for over 150 lb bodyweight. The F*CK is 100 Russian Kettlebell Swings for time. I've finished the rucking requirement 'ladder,' completing the 3, 4, and 5-mile rucks at the Oregon Country Fair.
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I've continued to make more progress with the books in this entry. I've finished The Inside Track: An Inspirational Guide To Conquering Adversity by Peter Sage. Still in progress: The Disaster-Ready Home: A Step-by-Step Emergency Preparedness Manual for Sheltering in Place by Creek Stewart, and Hidden in Plain Sight: Esoteric Power Training Within Japanese Martial Traditions: Tracing the Roots of Ueshiba Morihei's Power, by Ellis Amdur(editor). I have also finished reading Don’t Let Me Be Lonely: An American Lyric by Claudia Rankine, a very real book about death, grief processing, and sociopolitical change. Both books were left in the OCF Community Library.
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: No progress. Base Station's Fruit Orchard business license was renewed, and I got a jury summons and deferred it to October. My taxes are finally ready.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: No progress.
Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: I went to the Oregon Country Fair, uncharacteristically mostly resting, reading, and not volunteering. I needed the rest and respite.
