“The real value of setting and achieving goals lies not in the rewards you receive but in the person you become as a result of reaching your goals.” — Robin Sharma

The end of my 101/1001 List #6 snuck up on me. *smile* There isn't any monumentous sense of accomplishment, but I did accomplish some things on this list. Many goals on this list are ongoing; I'll start List #7 tomorrow. I'm not planning on changing categories at this point. This is a good time to retire from the fire service.

Some Base Station Projects happened, but much slower than anticipated. I kept up with GoRuck Challenges, and ran at least five races a year, and kept up with required trainings and education, and most of the maintenance goals. I attended plays and performances, and visited interesting museums, and saw a bunch of bands and performers, and ate a hot dog at a MLB game. I kept up with my health, including a yearly 7-day fast. I visited state and national parks, 'earning' five Junior Ranger badges, and completed one significant geocaching challenge.

I almost completed a self-chosen soft-style martial arts training challenge, worked on better sleep practices, read less but still a lot of books, virtually sat a lot of zazen, and went on some road trips/festivals.

I did not accomplish as many physical or martial arts goals as I wanted, or as many mindfulness/meditative practices, or as much travel as I wanted. In fact, I am a bit disappointed in my performance in every category. *sigh* I hope and plan to do better with List #7. I plan to spend more time developing strength and flexibility, purging more stuff, and streamlining/organizing what I've got. More focus, more meditative practices, more reading. More travel and adventures. More Base Station progress.

My final List #6 Entry:

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing: I continue to train in weekly Kung Fu classes, although I again had to miss a week due to illness. I'm still learning new staff techniques.

March's GoRuck Tribe 'Mystery' Challenges dropped on time. The trucking and additional challenges are, "Write the following distances each on their own piece of paper. Fold them up and toss them in a bowl - 3.1 miles, 5 miles, 8 miles, and 10 miles. The beginning of each week in March, pull a piece of paper out and see what it says. That will be the distance you complete that week. Preferably do it in one session. If it is a distance you are not yet prepared for, break it up throughout that week. Remember that adding weight is a great way to up the challenge, especially for shorter distances!" The workout is the “Fox Force 55”, with a Buy In of 50 Sandbag Clean & Front Tosses, and then 2 Rounds of 55 Sandbag Back Rack Walking Lunges, 10 Sandbag Devils Presses, 55 Sandbag Bent Over Rows, 10 Sandbag Devils Presses, 55 Sandbag Thrusters, and 10 Sandbag Devils Presses, and then a Cash Out of 50 Sandbag Overhead Flutter Kicks (4 count). The with a F*CK is 2 minutes of Max Overhead Presses. The month's book is Daughter of Mine by Megan Miranda, a psychological thriller. I completed my first ruck (of course it was the 10-miler) with three days of 3.8 total miles rucked and one 6.3 mile ruck, and finished the book. Week 2: I drew the 8-miler (of course).

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I've kept progressing with the books in this entry. Still in progress: The Disaster-Ready Home: A Step-by-Step Emergency Preparedness Manual for Sheltering in Place by Creek Stewart, and Hidden in Plain Sight: Esoteric Power Training Within Japanese Martial Traditions: Tracing the Roots of Ueshiba Morihei's Power, by Ellis Amdur(editor). Still on the stack: Teachings of the Tao by Eva Wong, and What the Buddha Taught by Walpola Rahula. I have reread The Tao of Pooh and I'm partway through The Te of Piglet by Benjamin Hoff.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I've continued Jim Cobb's Countdown to Preparedness book/assignments. I've started the second tactical medicine course, the online Improvised Tactical Emergency Casualty Care course. I have decided to retire from the Fire Service, but I'll keep my EMT license.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I've finished preparing 2024's financial books for the accountant, and it'll be delivered to them this week.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: No progress.

Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: Kinkfest Medical Lead responsibilities are ramping up.
