We all move on the fringes of eternity and are sometimes granted vistas through fabric of illusion. Many refuse to admit it: I feel a mystery exists. There are certain times, when, as on the whisper of the wind, there comes a clear and quiet realization that there is indeed a presence in the world, a nonhuman entity that is not necessarily inhuman. - Ansel Adams

Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing: I continue to train in weekly Shaolin Kung Fu classes. We are continuing Leopard Style — a lot of crouching and squatting. We are also learning breadth and sound techniques. I will miss this upcoming week.

I finally finished March's GoRuck Tribe's 'Mystery' Challenges. I still had the F*CK, 2 minutes of Max Overhead Presses. I managed 35. Now I can start on April's GoRuck Tribe 'Laughter' Challenges. I took advantage of a mostly sunny day to complete the workout, the Manion WOD, honoring 1stLt Travis Manion, USMC, and the ultimate sacrifice he made on 4/29/2007 to save the lives of his patrol in Iraq. It was a 'simple' workout, 7 Rounds of a 400m Run and 29 Sandbag Back Squats, and it was also a virtual race, complete with a race shirt and an extra ruck patch. I completed it in 53 minutes. I still have the Rucking and Additional Challenge, which is to "Strap on your ruck and turn on a hilarious podcast or favorite comedian stand-up. The first time you laugh, drop into a squat like you just heard your name in gym class. Every time after that, add one more squat". I also have the F*CK, which is 2 minutes of Ruck Swings, and the Warrior Poet requirement this month, which is to watch Ronny Chieng: Love to Hate It.

Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I'm halfway through Lila: An Inquiry Into Morals by Robert M. Pirsig.

In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I've continued Jim Cobb's Countdown to Preparedness book/assignments. I acquired some dollar-store supplies for my Basic First Aid Kit (week 13), but I still need wound tape, alcohol, iodine, and hydrogen peroxide to make a pretty comprehensive kit. Also, when dropping some stuff off at a Community Pantry, I found a nice small socket set to add to the toolbox.

Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I registered at the State Emergency Registry of Volunteers in Oregon as a member of Multnomah County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). I have gotten an email back with some online training I will complete within the next three months to get onboarded. Also, I will be completing a bunch of online mental health CEU classes this month because the Oregon Board changed the reporting rules, and my birthdate is an even year. *sigh* I have also completed the online training for the Black Rock Rangers, and I'm scheduled to attend the in-person training at Saguaro Man in Arizona at the end of the month.

Base Station/Ol' Number 3: No progress.

Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: I have mostly completed the scheduling for the Kinkfest Medical Team volunteers, most of my medical supplies have arrived, and I have finished packing. We start tomorrow at noon for Load-in.
