I made it to Davis, CA, although I had to power-nap at a Rest Area 30 miles out. Ol' Number 3 Made the passes, but she's leaking a bit of oil - more after the pass than now. I may have put a strain on her getting over the pass. Average speed: 50 mph; maximum in CA with a tow is 55mph. Still tired, but I was woken up to my niece and nephew, who are very excited about the bus. Although I walked the garden and practiced forms, There was no geocaching in Ashland; fog and a wise decision to get started paid off.

Stretching and forms today, I think, and some meditation. Interestingly enough, my nephew appears to be very interested in the martial arts, and I may do some training with him. Geocaching in Sacramento may also be on the agenda today.

Today my brother and my niece and I went to the California Train Museum (#94). They have an entire roundhouse of the big locomotives and a sleeper car and a mail car and so much more, including a huge collection of model trains and memorabilia. Included, I might add, was an original (Salem's own) A.C. Gilbert erector set display. Everything was lovingly restored, and the docents were knowledgeable and willing to share fascinating facts that would never have occurred to me about life on a railroad. I also did a bit of geocaching, including two virtual caches that required me to learn about the stagecoach and the Pony Express and see the Delta King, the big sternwheeler moored in old Sacramento.

It was wonderful to spend time with my niece and my brother. Tomorrow: a tour of the State Capitol. Tonight, some meditative time and catching up on my sleep.
