I've not posted in several weeks, and I'm even more behind than usual with email and keeping up on everyone's journal entries. I have been pretty focused on training, work, and simplifying my life. I've been going through everything and consolidating and reorganizing, and working to make my life more efficient. Steph has been a great motivator, and very helpful with that process.
I went with Steph to Dallas for a weekend and geocached while she attended a mandatory educational conference. We both spent some time learning about the JFK assassination. We visited the Texas School Book Depository, including the Museum, and saw the actual location of the shooting, and where Oswald hid the rifle, and the official FBI/Warren Commission model of the shooting. We also geocached at the Grassy Knoll, where Oswald lived at the time of the assassination, where Oswald allegedly shot the Deputy attempting to arrest him after the shooting, the theater where he hid and was subsequently arrested, the Trauma Center where JFK died, and Oswald's grave. Very interesting and educational.
I continue to get new referrals weekly at work, and I'm getting better at filling my days with clients. I'm only working part-time (3 days a week), and money is tight, but I'm slowly managing to pay my bills and my taxes. I've been accepted to, and have enjoyed, the Comal County Sheriff's Office Citizen's Police Academy. I've learned about Patrol/Authorized Use of Force, the Civil Process, and 911/Communications. I've gotten to explore the gear in a Sheriff's car, watch actual clips of Deputy-involved shootings, and observe actual 911 calls.
The Fortress of Solitude has been listed, and I'm still determining the costs of the damage and the losses of my previous tenant. I'll be recovering from that for some time. My family situation appears to slowly deteriorating, and it looks like I'll be in Texas for awhile yet. Care packages have been very much appreciated and cherished - thank you again, Miss Rebecca and Valerie!
Ol' Number 3 has been officially designated as the Medical HQ/Medical Support for this year's Flipside, the biggest Regional Burning Man Festival at the end of May. I've been putting a lot of work into her, and most of her projects are completed or mostly completed. She still needs an external power plug system, permanent CB and Ham Radio antenna mounts, an air conditioner, dual connections for her two batteries, and some little miscellaneous stuff. She will be getting Texas license plates, with my N5GRM call sign. *smile*
Where am I on my 101/1001 list? In the Train the Body category, I'm still on track to run a 10k at the end of the month (#2), and still working on push-ups and sit-ups (#5, #6). I did well enough with my staff form in the inter-school tournament to complete that goal (#12). As that is five more goals completed, I'm adding finding 1,111 geocaches by 11/11/11 as goal #111.
In the Train the Mind category, I'm slowly getting through my martial arts/spirituality library (#28), and carrying those books with me at work. I'm spending less time on my computer (#86), and getting back into my creative side for Haiku (#69). In the Work category, I'm scheduled for more CEUs in April (#41), and I'm monitoring a listserve for the EPPP and creating a study plan (#14).
In the Travel/Adventures category, I'm bound to Texas, so much of this list is on hold, but I'm eating a new food at least monthly (#66) and I'm scheduled for the Burn (#42). I'm scheduled for a concert in May (#105). In the Life category, I'm scheduled for the blood tests for a physical exam this Friday (#49), and shaving my head for a month as part of the St. Baldric's campaign to raise awareness of cancers in children this Saturday(#58). I've managed to help twice without being noticed (#79).
Regarding the 9-Goal Challenge:
2. run a 10K in 60 minutes - in progress
5. 200 non-stop pushups - in progress
6. 200 non-stop crunches -in progress
12. better my skills with staff/bo - COMPLETED
28. re-read my martial arts library [7/23] - in progress
69. write more haiku [53/100] - in progress
49. get a complete physical examination - in progress
70. write up will, just in case
79. help people randomly and anonymously at least 23 times [13/23] - in progress
Time to get busy. *smile* There are people who read this who have completed all of their goals, and I'm behind.
