I’ve planted all of the potatoes, hilling them by adding a second tire, and filling the second tire with straw. All of the beans are starting to sprout, and my starts are going slowly but surely. I’ve also planted some flowers for the flower garden by the fig tree. Farmer Grim moment: being at the feed store, in my Carharrt coveralls, discussing potato starters and buying straw and loading the 50-pound bale in my truck. I’ve started to clear out more of the gardening/ farming tools in the garage, and make more space for other projects.

We’ve cleared out all of the cut blackberries/yard debris, and burned everything. I’ve gotten more tires to replace those used by the potatoes, and started to collect tools for the garage. Tomorrow we’ll be cutting back more blackberries around the grape arbor, and planting blueberry, raspberry, and currant bushes, as well as more flowers. It’s not yet time to plant more in the garden.

I spent a couple of days in Seattle, hanging with some of the other Presidents of the BIMC and making new friends. Coffee, walking around the Seattle Center, riding the ferry to Bremerton, and meeting like-minded people made to trip worth it.

I’ve gotten my Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor III credentials, and I’ll be calling for my national credentials on Monday.
