Goals/Life Update - Day 632/1001
Mar. 24th, 2016 12:15 am“The path of the warrior is lifelong, and that mastery is often simply staying on the path.” Richard Strozzi-Heckler
My posting here has been pretty absent as of late. There have been a lot of changes, and I haven’t had the heart or the time for spending time on LiveJournal. There have been a lot of medical, relationship, and priority shifts. I’ve realized I’m adrift. I am slowly re-evaluating everything, and deciding what to do next. However, I’m long overdue for an update.
Body: I’m still training Tai Chi Yang and Shen Style (#01, #10), at least once or twice a week, and I look forward to the structure and the friendship of the school. It’s rare I can fully relax, and just flow and laugh. I’m about to restart situps and pushups (#07, #08) a few days a week, and I’ll be joining a different gym (#06) in the next few weeks. Medically, I need to increase my physical activity and keep rehabilitating myself, and I have comitted to doing so fairly regularly in the last few weeks.
Mind: There has been some light discussion of performing another Puja (#13), but not much spiritual connection or ritual. I have been forced to change my eating habits (#14), and I now eat less and more healthy foods overall. I continue to write monthly haiku (#19), and in fact I won an honorable mention for a haiku contest in a local paper, but not much more mental development. I’m planning on spending a week at the local Zen Monastery (#21) this summer to reset myself.
Well-rounded: nothing.
Work: I’ve basically kept up with my clients and my colleagues, but no professional development. I’m slowly reducing my practice.
Maintenance: I’ve gotten my physical exam (#51), and my dental exam (#50) rescheduled (I was scheduled while I was in the UK). My medical issues will require regular attention for a while. I will be either renewing my First Aid/CPR certification (#46) in May at the Red Cross Disaster Academy or at annual training at the fire station before then.
Zombies: I have completed a FEMA online course (#59), and I’ve been working for a few hours weekly to complete my new goal (#68) of completing Firefighter 1 certification. I’ve had road tests in the Utility and Rescue vehicles, and I’m working on my skills competencies when I can. I’d like to complete my certification by Burning Man and volunteer for the Black Rock City Fire Department, as well as Rangering.
Ol’ Number 3: I’ve put some focus into preparing #3 to deploy (#69) to Portland, and I’ve been reorganizing, cleaning, and storing my possessions on the bus for a move to Portland. This will happen sometime this summer, or before.
House of a Thousand Projects: nope.
Geocaching: I’ve made some new geocacher friends, and I’ve gone on roadtrips and hikes with them. I’ve made progress with completing my difficulty/terrain rating grid (#82), and with completing the geocaching Finds by Hidden Month (#84), and with the Oregon History Challenge (#85). Additionally, I completed the goal of finding all of the 35MM series (#103) today.
Travel: I’ve traveled to Catherine Creek (#92) and to Roseburg for long geocaching hikes, and I hope to get another good hike in this weekend, depending on weather. Nothing else yet, although I’m going to SOAK and I plan on a lot of hiking this summer. I hope to travel somewhere else for vacation, in addition to Burning Man, this year.
Goals Completed: 20
Goals in Progress: 28
