Manifestation
Apr. 21st, 2016 01:20 pmHey, Universe. It’s Grim. Got a minute? So, um, I’d like to move towards a bit of manifestation.
I’m looking for someone physically and mentally healthy enough that I have to work to keep up, and I’m challenged to learn something new every time I see them. I’m looking for someone who motivates my self-discipline, self-awareness, and self-responsibility. I’m looking for an expert-level practitioner in things I don’t know anything about, but that interests me, and that I want to learn about. I’m looking for someone who knows that fear is the mind-killer, and who is emotionally up for the challenge, even though they are scared witless. I want someone with impossible goals, but who is striving for them anyway.
I’m looking for someone who has and does sweat and bleed through uniforms, blocks and strikes and breathes and moves through opponents, and can engage both hard and linear, as well as soft and circular, styles with tactical, situational, and energetic awarenesses. I’m looking for someone who has read (and rereads) Musashi, Ueshiba, and Nitobe, and Lowry, Grossman, and Millman - as well as others I’ve not read … yet. I’m looking for someone who trains with old ways, because that training trains in other ways.
I’m looking for someone who has a BOB, and has thought about what’s in it, and why, and restocks and maintains mission-specific objectives for it; I want someone who knows how to apply a Celox Z-fold and a CAT under extreme conditions. I’m looking for someone who knows that there are no zombies, but prepares for them because that covers other more likely scenarios. I’m looking for someone who understands fps, MER, RPM, capacity, reliability, MOA, and functionality. I’m looking for someone who understands why and how CQB is factored in different tactical lines, and who can discuss and carry out force concentration and small unit tactics.
I’m looking for someone nerdy enough to understand what a FTF is, and why that’s important and fun, and who will be ready and willing to go for it. I’m looking for someone who can observe and critically reason what’s out of place and where things might be hidden, and has the patience to keep looking. I’m looking for someone who can land-navigate around obstacles with a GPS or a compass, and a topo map and a UTM slot tool, and is willing to endure the distance required, and who can celebrate their successes and learn from failures and be ready for the next challenge.
I’m looking for someone who understands robusta versus arabica, and why nation of origin represents different ritual, and that the essence of dark and rich taste and flavor needs nothing added. I’m looking for someone who understands those rituals as not only service, but celebration and connection. I’m looking for someone who understands the age, fermentation, distillation, and tradition of the Highlands. I’m looking for someone who understands the elegance of the etiquette, cutting, tasting, and ash of a 50-ring Alturo Fuente. I’m looking for rigorous intellectual debate during these rituals with a scientist-practitioner, exchanging relevant empirical evidence supporting intelligent and higher-concept philosophies with humor and wit.
Yeah. That’s a good start. I’ve been and I’ll keep training, hopefully enough to be worth it to that someone or someones. Thanks, Universe, for listening.
