101/1001 Update
Jun. 19th, 2020 08:37 pmPerseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did. - Newt Gingrich
Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: I'm now restarting consecutive pushups and crunches. I'm back to taking long walks in the neighborhood to strengthen my hip and help push out the lactic acid buildup, and restarted my running. Recently testing my running, I was able to run slowly for ten of twelve laps, and perform 10 of the 30 reps of the five bodyweight exercises during the run with only some hip/glute pain. I hope to do another test run this weekend, and run the race the weekend after.
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I've finished with On the Warrior's Path and also The Unfettered Mind by Takuan Sōhō, and I'm now reading Hagakure by Yamamoto Tsunetomo. I'm still training mindfulness with my eating patterns and maintaining a roughly 2000-calorie a day dietary intake, and I'm adding more attention to my water intake. Two sets of haiku!
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: No progress.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: I am still utilizing the ReadyMan Plan2Survive Program. I've haven't started the FEMA online course. I have repacked my car get-home bag for the summer season.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: The new gate posts are in, and the gate has been repositioned in a much better spot for overall security. The Underground Power Project has been completed and tested. The utility poles are still standing, but don't have wire on them; they will likely be removed next week. The shell of the Gate House will be finished this weekend, including sheeting, roofing, and a pad to allow for the installation of the front door. The internet and phone lines for Base Station will be installed next week. The well/water system, and also regraveling the driveway after all of the heavy equipment and trucks are finished, are the next priorities.
Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: I found two geocaches for the second of the two days I need in June for my Found by Found Date Stats. I only have eight days of the year left to complete this goal - one in July, two in August, four in September, and one in February (that I missed this year).
Portland, and the surrounding counties around it, will be opening up Friday for Phase 1 of the Coronavirus protocols - but I don't expect to be doing much traveling or adventuring for a while. I believe the counties are opening too soon - so I won't be at my gym, restaurants, or public events any time soon. I'll be focusing on Base Station projects this Summer.
Haiku
global pandemic -
different challenges,
adjust to new ways
Constant delays,
money/time/energy
consume my mind
The county opens;
exposure risks increase.
Stay the fuck home.
Infection rising,
Worried about exposure?
Wear your damn mask.
Government fails,
People are resilient -
We'll get through this.
new way of living,
new way of thinking/being
the rules have changed
