Body/Martial Arts/Physical Improvement/Testing Myself: For the GoRuck additional tasking 'Functions Check', I participated in two hour-long Tai Chi/Qigong classes, walking there and back, and maintained 10k steps or more all week. Powerwashing at Base Station for several hours more than counted as an outside workout. My fast this year was a bit rocky for the first few days, with sleep disturbances and more physical and mental fatigue than usual, but I leveled out by the end of Day 3. The return to the actual eating of food has been a bit rocky, as well. An attempt at the workout led to mild hypovolemia, so we will try again after some recovery from fasting.
The GoRuck workout this month is nine rounds of the exercises, something they didn't mention when the challenge dropped. I'd wondered; apparently, they didn't proofread their own copy very well. It doesn't matter. What's left: the workout (45 lb. ruck, 20 lb. plate carrier, and a 60 lb. sandbag), a 2001 meter Ruck, and nine rounds of 11 Step-Ups with Ruck, 11 Thrusters, 11 Pull-Ups, 11 Power Cleans, 11 Ruck Push-Ups, 11 Ruck Swings, 11 toes to bar/ruck V-Ups, 11 Deadlifts, 11 Push Jerks, and another 2001 meter Ruck, as well as one 13-Miler ruck at baseline weight, and finishing Fall and Rise: The Story of 9/11 by Mitchell Zuckoff.
Mind/Spirit/Centering/Health: I've finished Seeking Enlightenment... Hat by Hat: A Skeptic's Path to Religion by Nevada Barr, and I'm still reading The Places That Scare You: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times by Pema Chödrön, as well as Everything is F*cked: A Book About Hope by Mark Manson, and I've added Animal: The Autobiography of a Female Body by Sara Pascoe. I'm continuing my daily meditation practice, and I have sat formal Zazen, virtually, with another Dharma talk. Haiku below.
New word: Suborn means "to persuade (someone) to do something illegal (such as to lie in a court of law)." It can also mean "to obtain (false testimony) from a witness by persuasion."
Maintenance/Shit Got To Be Done: I've taken yet another CEU class on "Working with Suicidal Patients, An Evidence-Based Approach". I don't need the CEUs, but this is a topic where one can never have too much training. The daily driver had a recall notice on a core module, and that has been replaced at the Jeep dealer this week. I also scored some nice weather floor mats for her out of a free box. *smile* More gear/supplies are on their way from Portland Storage to Base Station.
In Case of Zombies/Disaster Preparation: No progress.
Base Station/Ol' Number 3: The original plan of painting the Gate House and the Pump House this weekend fell through when the rented paint sprayer was broken. We spent several hours trying to make it work, but we ended up taking it back for a full refund. We did powerwash the Gate House, the Pump House, Ol' Number 3, and the RV, and we hope to paint soon, weather permitting.
Travel/Adventure/Doing Stuff: No progress.
