For a Warrior I'm thinking about...
Jun. 27th, 2005 01:33 pm"Many times, there are things we fear. Many of our fears are based on unwillingness to change. Conquering fear is never an easy thing, but attainable if we are willing to work it through.
... the way to overcome your fears is to face them. As you dwell among them, learn more about them. As you learn more about them, you may find that they are predictable, controllable or at least bearable. As you learn, your mindset will change and fear may go by the wayside.
Remember the words of the Master Jedi Yoda, “Fear is the path to the dark side. Anger leads to fear, fear leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
By facing your fear you can overcome it. By overcoming it you will open yourself wider, earn more respect and show others how to do the same."

"The mental attitude of Heihō is not different than that of the everyday attitude. In both peaceful times and in times of battle, it is the same. Be careful to ascertain the truth from a broad viewpoint. Do not become tense and do not let yourself go. Keep your mind on the center and do not waver. Calm your mind, and do not cease the firmness for even a second. Always maintain a fluid and flexible, free and open mind".
Musashi Miyamoto, The Book of Five Rings

thoughts fall out about this, maybe
Date: 2005-06-27 03:45 pm (UTC)In strategy your spiritual being must not be any different from normal. Both in fighting and everyday life you should be determined though calm. Meet the situation without tenseness yet not recklessly, your spirit settled yet unbiased. Even when your spirit is calm do not let your body relax, and when your body is relaxed do not let your spirit slacken. Do not let your spirit be influenced by your body, or your body be influenced by your spirit. Be neither insufficiently spirited nor over spirited. An elevated spirit is weak and a low spirit is weak. Do not let the enemy see your spirit. Musashi Miyamoto, The Book of Five Rings
thank you more will be in my journal ~ it is where I am striving to flow from, not necessarily where I am going. Love, pinkk {drowning perhaps in The Water Book}

A Master's Wisdom...
Date: 2005-06-28 10:14 am (UTC)And a true Master never realizes he has become one, but rather always sees himself as the eternal student, and is only seen as a Master by those just steps behind him on the Path...

Re: A Master's Wisdom...
Date: 2005-06-29 12:07 pm (UTC)It may be true that I am a teacher. It may be that I help others. But, I help them in order to help myself, and to learn. In fact, I often think that I learn more than I teach. Perhaps I am simply a fellow Student, as there are certainly people more enlightened than I who teach me what I pass on.

*laughs as you prove yourself and my point in one fluid motion*
Date: 2005-06-29 02:09 pm (UTC)but don't go calling me Master *laughs hard*... for I still aspire to even be a good student... and my Child/Submissive within only blushes and runs away giggling all embarrassed and playfully shy, while my Queen/Goddess shakes her head in exasperated amusement, her eyes twinkling merrily.
Thank you for posting the Bruce Lee Attributes of a Warrior, Tig & Grim... they were inspiring and made my heart beat fast. Those shall go in my Journal.
*has bowed enough... gives you a big hug instead*

Attributes Of The Warrior, for those who computer won't go to MSN. :>
Date: 2005-06-29 11:45 am (UTC)Attributes of the Warrior
In any time, in any place, anywhere, the Warrior remembers himself as such.
The Warrior is the height of controlled violence and uncontrolled gentleness.
The Warrior says nothing, does nothing, which stems from ego.
The Warrior is the personification of discipline.
The Warrior disciplines himself to be disciplined.
The Warrior has reason for everything she does and says.
The Warrior accepts no excuses for failure.
The Warrior gives no excuses for failure.
The Warrior has no time for mediocrity.
The Warrior does not deny fear, she embraces it, and uses it.
The Warrior is a protector.
As a protector, the Warrior ceaselessly develops those skills which allow him to protect.
The Warrior seeks perfection of Mind, Body, and Spirit.
The Warrior is compassion.
The Warrior is the ultimate paradox.
The Warrior pursues the arts of war.
The Warrior pursues the arts of peace.
The Warrior pursues knowledge.
The Warrior realizes his own shortcomings in all these areas and seeks to correct them.
The Warrior uses discipline to overcome her faults.
The Warrior is war.
The Warrior is peace.
The Warrior has time for all things.
The Warrior spends every moment pursuing the Way.
The Warrior knows victory and defeat, shuns victory and defeat, so that she will know victory and defeat.
The Warrior is empty.
The Warrior is full.
If the Warrior does not know, he seeks until he does.
Nothing is below the Warrior's interest.
Nothing is above the Warrior.
The Warrior sees the truth in that which repels him.
Nothing repels the Warrior.
The Warrior loves all things.
The Warrior sees with his ears.
The Warrior listens with her eyes.
The Warrior has great doubt.
The Warrior has great faith.
The Warrior knows his emptiness.
The Warrior knows his form.
The Warrior takes his path seriously.
The Warrior laughs at himself.
The Warrior is never unarmed.
The Warrior is distinct, separate.
The Warrior is connected to all things.
The Warrior becomes the situation as water takes the shape of its container.
The Warrior constantly seeks his own flaws.
The Warrior seeks to correct her own flaws.
The Warrior recognizes himself as nothing.
The Warrior recognizes herself as everything.
The Warrior knows pain.
The Warrior knows sadness.
The Warrior knows indecision.
The Warrior knows these things within the core of unreasonable happiness.
The Warrior has one desire.
The Warrior desires to realize perfection of the Way.
The Warrior knows it is all a dream.
The Warrior doesn't care.
The Warrior walks through other's dreams.
Because the Warrior is awake.
The Warrior is.
The Warrior doesn't do any of these things all the time.
That is why he works so hard.
