Back to Basics
Jan. 14th, 2007 11:56 amOK. I have a 7th Gup Tang Soo Do test Saturday, 9/20. I’ve been laid off my gym job, but I still have a free gym membership. I’m still living with Granny, and doing a bit of caregiving, but there isn’t much needed. And, free rent.
I found an excellent coffee shop in Chapel Hill, and resolved the last remaining issues with my outplacement. UNC-CH Physical Medicine and Rehab rocks---the first day I met a GSW head injury patient, whose skull looked like a deflated football, with fresh surgical scars. This week, a patient with an extremely rare neurological syndrome called Haw River Syndrome, found only in North Carolina. It’s a genetic neurological disorder named after the Haw River, which is less than 10 miles from Chapel Hill, but so rare my supervisor had never seen it before, either. I may be a bit of a hermit over the next week. I need to center myself. I need to take care of me. I need to reevaluate my eating, coffee drinking, and training habits. I need to go back to the basics, and simplify. Breathing. Tantra. Better eating habits. Hyung. Strength and endurance training.

Date: 2007-01-15 04:24 pm (UTC)Which coffee shop in Chapel Hill? I really like cafe Driade, which is especially nice on warm days as tehy have nice outdoor seating.
For lunch or dinner, head over to Carrburritos. Also, Weaver Street market is great. there's the main one in Carrburo and a smaller one in Southern Village. Whole Foods is ok too. Great fresh food bars at those. carrburritos is fresh and healthy version of Mexican food.
Try the scones from Great Harvest, which is near the Whole Foods. The scones are not exactly healthy, but damn they are good.
